‘Fully Amazing’ Vanity Fair
‘Inspiration for a new generation of performers’ The New York Post
For the first time all ten episodes of the hit online dance series THE LXD are now available for Australian audience to watch for free at www.joost.com.
The hit US series was a web phenomenon when it was first shown in the US and its popularity shows no sign of slowing down. Season two has just been released on US website Hulu and, based on its success, they have just announced season three will go into production.
The big budget high-energy series features some of America’s best dancers and tells a classic tale of good versus evil amongst a group of ordinary people who discover they have supernatural powers through dance.
It has been hailed by some of the international press as a ‘’game changer in the way that web series are presented online”. THE LXD is a “new” kind of viral video, most episodes being no longer than 10 minutes. It sits between TV content made available online (Lost, Prison Break etc) and the viral/home made stuff you see on YouTube, yet it has the production values of high-end film.
THE LXD was written and directed by Jon M. Chu director of Step Up 2, Step Up 3D and the soon to be released Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. It stars the cast of the Step Up films and Harry Shum Jr from Glee.
A must see for fans of Glee, Heroes, So You Think You Can Dance and all dance fans, the series has consistently rated in the top ten of US site Hulu which also features hit shows such as The Simpsons and Glee.
As well as being loved by audiences THE LXD has been a success with critics. Vanity Fair described the series as ‘fully amazing’, the New York Post called it an ‘inspiration for a new generation of performers’ and the Los Angeles Times said it was ‘one of the most ambitious web series attempted’.
The success of the series in the US has seen the cast invited to appear on So You Think You Can Dance, take part in the US ‘Glee’ Tour and perform at the 82nd Academy Awards.
The ten episodes will be free to watch on www.joost.com for ten months from Thursday 2 December 2010.
